Back with a vengence with 2 luvbabies!

Hello 2009. Between the last post and this one, the stork brought me another luvbaby! We'll call her the Mini Luvbaby. This is good timing, it is as if I never left the blog because I am in the same place as I was 2 years ago! Just returning to work, rejoining the civilian life! Only this time, we got swine flu and the global economic collapse in the brain. How fun.

Luvbaby is over 2 years old now. Just started daycare. Mini is pretty much just like the original, same crazy hair and does the same thing! (poos, eats and sleeps). I never thought I'd be a mama to two girls. Man I have it out for me. I've already been told how "independent" (translate: strong willed) Luvbaby is...another thing is that she has a major shoe fetish. Crazy. At least she loves her combat boots.

I decided today that Mini will be the one I'm going to dress up like a doll. Why not. Either I will have two tom boys (like mama) or end up with two princesses. So far the luvbaby is quite the fearless one. She climbs, she jumps. Did she want to be a princess or a ladybug for Halloween? Nooooo. She was Spiderman. Cooool.

When Mini was in my belly her dad nicknamed her "the terror". I say Mini will be the sweet little lady. I have so many clothes I deemed too cutsey for the Luvbaby. So lil' Mini will have to endure the dress ups. Right now I have her in her little Aloha Hawaiian floral dress... Why do I want to doll her up? Maybe I'm not sure I can handle two strong willed wanna be me's.

Back from my hiatus

Yes, its been awhile, I know, I know! Its been hard for me to be snarky when I'm trying to be maternal, forgive me! I'm back! With a vengence so sit tight while I blast you update posts of life as a rebel mama.

So, lets see. My little luv baby is 10 months old! Can you believe it? It has been a fun, rewarding and almost giddy experience, being a mama. Don't worry I haven't lost any of my rebel behavior. Not wearing any mom jeans either thank you very much.

What has changed since little luvbaby arrived? Well here is a list of 10 changes since the luvbaby arrived:

1) Having to wake up early no matter what time or how late I go to bed
2) How easy it is to fall asleep, insomnia no longer exists
3) Actually giving a damn about the state of my carpet and what little bits end up on it
4) I don't get that cold anymore because the luvbaby keeps me in motion (and she is warm and fuzzy, great for snuggling)
5) How exciting and new everything and everybody is (oh hee hee hee! Look at me, I'm your mama! weeee!
6) Not able to find time for painting, and surprisingly would rather spend the time w/ the baby than paint
7) The dogs aren't getting walked twice a day or even twice a week
8) Finding that going to the office is rather enjoyable
9) Becoming 1000% more paranoid than I was already
10) Realizing I AM one of those crazy parents

Ok, and then...10 things that didn't change since the luvbaby arrived:

1) I thought my feet would get bigger
2) My house is still a mess and I have not turned into a neat freak or a germaphobe
3) I can still curse (for now)
4) My relationships with my friends haven't changed. They still never visit.
5) I don't feel the need to tell everyone to procreate
6) My desk at work is not covered with my baby's picture
7) I'm still attending underground freaky artist artshows
8) My man still hangs out w/ his dudes regularly--and that is totally fine by me!
9) I still don't feel much comraderie with other moms
10) I thought my boobs would get bigger

3 months past and a return to civilian life

3 months have come and gone and my baby has started to babble, I'm back at work and finally feel like like I can put together some thoughts to post. But where do I begin ?! Should I start with my return to work? How I feel about Motherhood? My baby's milestones? Disgusting postpartum experiences?

Last week I finally returned to work and joined the real world once again. After the birth, I spent the first 2 months doing absolutely NOTHING other than be and bond with the luvbaby. Night rolled into day and I had no idea what day or what time it was. It was at the same time hedonistic, timeless and challenging-- with new experiences, feelings and responsiblities. Most of my time was spent somewhere between a dreamstate and sleeplessness fueled by my new mother instincts and adrenaline. The body was still in pain the first weeks, yet there is the joy of a new baby as well as those crazy letdown of emotions. I remember sleeping alot, cuddling alot and watching a whole lot of Oprah.

After the 2 months I spent being very corny, I started to work from home during the third month and it kinda help ease me back into civilian life. I hadn't even gone outside much during my leave, or talked to an adult for a while and I was nervous when the maternity leave was coming to an end. Surprisingly, tranisitioning back to work was relatively easy...I count myself as the lucky ones, I can work from home a couple days a week! So now I'm a MOM. A modern working mom--but I'm sitting here at work still in my cammo pants, flip flops, long hair, skull shirts..Still stealing music off the internet while I should be working. Yeah, I'm still a rebel. NO mom jeans here baby....Ooops 6 pm, gotta go home to the baby! I'm still a rebel but I'm also a momma.

Baby Skyla made her debut

Sorry I haven't written for a while. I would write, but I've spent the last 2.5 weeks taking care of my baby!
36 weeks arrived. And so did my baby. February 2nd 2007, on a full moon at 4:42 am, the luvbaby decided to move out of her momma's tummy into bigger digs! After 12 or so hours of labor, Skyla Rose Jones was born at 5:43pm. She weighed 7 lbs 8 ounces and measured 20 inches long. She arrived 3.5 weeks ahead of her due date, and broke my water unexpectedly. We had just celebrated her baby shower 6 days earlier and thought we had at least a month to prepare. Everything happened so fast we had no time to be fearful or hesitant. So we did what we had to do and now we have a baby!

The labor was pretty normal, the recovery swift and it feels like she's lived with us longer than 2.5 weeks! Her coming early meant I spent less time being totally uncomfortable and never really got a chance to waddle. She's currently making up for it by her many poops and spit ups.

You can read more about my baby on her own blog: theLUvbaby Blog

i gotta go change her diaper. Will write again soon.

33 weeks, coundown has begun!

I've just reached 33 weeks mark yesterday and yes, the countdown has begun! Nothing really new to report except for the 4d ultrasound we got at about 29 weeks! You can see the pictures here: http://www.theluvbaby.blogspot.com

They are incredible! My baby, looks like a baby! Fat little cheeks and everything! My belly seems to showcase that my baby is pudgy. I can't walk down the street w/out someone asking me if I'm due any day now, if I'm carrying twins, or tell that my baby will be a big girl. What are they trying to scare the crap outta me?

The past few weeks I've gotten a bit more tired and it has been harder to sleep. Someone told me its my body adjusting to the sleep schedule my baby will have, which made perfect sense! I can only sleep 3-4 hour stretches, and will wake up wide eyed for no good reason. So my new thing is to just go to bed right after work, wake up and eat etc, and go back to sleep again. And sneak in naps whenever I can...which has helped alot! Instead of trying to force a 8 hour sleep shift, sneaking in smaller naps have made me feel much more refreshed. Its not real sleeping, but its better than nothing. I guess I'll be doing that for the next 18 years.

Who's that lady with a big belly?

Behold my pregnant belly! One of these shots are at 28 weeks, one at 18 weeks and one at 14 weeks. Can you guess which one is which? Don't you love the "buff mama" shot?

I just made it to 29 weeks...by next week is when I will start to freak a little. In the 30's...wow. I've started seeing my ol' chiropractor due to the pains on my right leg. That leg happens to be a bit shorter than the other and my right side as always bore the brunt of all my activities. In softball/tennis it was my right shoulder. During horsebackriding/snowboarding it was my left knee, and now during pregnancy my left sit bone is killing me! I've had to tone down the leg lifts considerably. At lease I can still work out them arms.
